Fish Mutations Explained

In Fish It (Fisch), catching a fish is just the start. Every fish has a chance to spawn with a Mutation, which changes its name, color, and most importantly—its Sell Price.

🌟 How to Catch Rare Mutations

1. The “Shiny Surge” Event

Occasionally, the server will announce a Shiny Surge.

Effect: +3% Chance to catch Shiny/Sparkling fish.
Strategy: Drop a Luck Potion and fish as fast as you can.

2. Enchanting Your Rod

Visit Merlin on Moosewood Island (Level 30+) to enchant your rod.

Blessed: Increases Shiny/Sparkling chance by 2%.
Abyssal: Increases Abyssal mutation chance.
Mutated: General boost to all mutation rates.

3. The Depths (Abyssal Fish)

Abyssal mutations are the most valuable regular match.

Location: You have a 0.09% base chance to find them in The Depths (requires Vertigo Key).
Rod: Use the Rod of the Depths or Abyssal Specter to boost this chance significantly (up to 30%).

⚖️ Appraising

You can take any fish to the Appraiser merchant.

Cost: 450C$
Effect: Rerolls the fish’s weight and can add a mutation.
Warning: It can also remove a mutation! Never appraise a Mythic or Legendary if it already has a good mutation like Shiny.

Can a fish have two mutations? Generally, no excluding distinct categories (e.g., Weight vs Mutation).
What is the “Golden Koi”? It’s usually just a Shiny version of the Koi Carp.
